Early Bird Program

 

          The Early Bird topic is 5S and Lean Manufacturing. It will be a group presentation by three people from Carpenter's Metallurgical Laboratory.

·        Scott Moyer is the Trainer/Developer.

·        Bob Kemmerer is a Quality Engineer

·        Dan Konik is the Lab Coordinator.

 

 

Program Presentation:

 

          SQF 2000 is a certification standard for food safety and quality managed by the SQF Institute a division of the Food Marketing Institute in Washington D.C. SQF stands for Safe, Quality, Food. The SQF Program is a fully integrated food safety and quality management protocol designed specifically for the food industry.The SQF 2000 Code is based on the CODEX Alimentarius HACCP Guidelines which are widely accepted standards for food safety. In addition to Good Manufacturing practices (GMPs), a Supplier develops and maintains Food Safety and Food Quality Plans to control those aspects of their operations that are critical to maintaining food safety and quality. The SQF program Level 3 is recognized by the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) as conforming to the highest international standards and utilizes protocols recognized by the International Accreditations Forum. Holly will take us through an overview of the requirements and implementation of an SQF program.

 

Holly Thompson Bio:

 

          Holly Thompson, Manager, Quality Assurance and Plant Services, Pepperidge Farm Inc., Denver PA. Holly earned an MS in Chemistry from Michigan State University and an MBA from St Joseph's University.  Holly has over 23 years experience in Quality Management in the Food Industry, working for Pepperidge Farm the past 15 years and with the Pillsbury company prior to that. Holly is an ASQ Certified Quality Auditor, Certified HACCP Auditor, and Certified Quality Engineer.  Holly has worked on the ASQ Reading Section Board since 1993, holding several positions, including Membership Chair, National Quality Month/Reading Area Council on Excellence (RACE) Chair for Reading Section, Vice Chairperson and Chair-Elect, and Chairperson. She is currently the Nominations and Auditing Chairperson.
